COMEDY CENTRAL AND NC+

Using augmented reality technology, we made it possible for shoppers in select European malls to enter the animated world of South Park. The event was part of a holiday promotional campaign sponsored by Comedy Central and the NC+ digital platform.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Our artists prepared for the event by creating five short 2D animations with characters from the show. At the mall, shoppers triggered random animations by stepping in front of a motion sensor placed on an interactive totem. We devised technology that removed the mall background in real time and configured the interactive totem to serve as a virtual mirror.

AUGMENTED REALITY MEETS THE REAL WORLD

When shoppers stepped up, they saw themselves in the world of South Park, along with characters from the show. They could snap a picture to share on Facebook and request to receive the image by email, along with a special holiday offer from NC+. More than 700 shoppers shared images on the NC+ Facebook fan page, and 2,500 received special offers.
